Animal Styles of Chi Ling Pai®Animal movements are a large part of Chi Ling Pai® Gung Fu, but not every student will learn all of these animals. The basics to many of the animals are the same. The differences come from the hand positions and the attitude that each animal has when fighting and moving. Once you have learned the basics in Chi Ling Pai®, a qualified teacher can teach you one or even two or three of the animal styles that fit each individual student.
Body type, energy level, flexibility, mentality, and many other variables go into what animals are suited for what person. The student and teacher will, at the appropriate time, discuss what animals they will go over. This is an exciting time for the student. They learn techniques and knowledge that, up until now, they have only seen others do. It will become their own. It will also usually improve the student’s fighting ability. Some students learn their animal movements all at once. In just a few hours, they will have improved 100% due to their revelation and understanding of the knowledge. Others may take a long time to understand. I have seen great students achieve knowledge in both ways. The teacher will take the student to the zoo. Hopefully the animals will play and fight so the teacher can point out aspects of their movement to the students. Apes, monkeys, bears, lions and tigers have all been witnessed moving and fighting by the ancient Chinese. These masters formulated fighting techniques based on their observations. You, also will learn from watching these creatures. |
